14 June 2008 - mobile number expansion to 7 digits

Vanuatu national mobile numbers expanded from 5 to 7 digits on 14 June 2008, including new mobile range assignments +678 54xxxxx and +678 55xxxxx. Existing fixed/wireline services remain at 5 national digits as does special non-geographic +678 30xxx service.

November 2004 - new GSM ranges announced

Telecom Vanuatu announced new mobile number ranges in November 2004: +678 50xxx through +678 53xxx.

 

March 2004 - new GSM ranges announced

GSM mobile numbers were introduced for the following ranges: +678 50xxx, +678 51xxx, +678 59xxx. Announcement of the new ranges was made 1 March 2004, although this may not necessarily be the implementation date.
