A large part of the reclaimed water processed in the plant will be directly discharged into the Tonghui River that flows through the region, according to Wang Jiawei, a senior employee from Beijing Drainage Group Co., Ltd.

The reclaimed water will flow into the wetland through underground pipes before joining the river and helping improve the surrounding environment, Wang said.

The park will be completed by the end of this year, with a green area accounting for 60.8 percent and the water body taking up 25 percent of the total area.
